August31 175

Hurray it's the last day of August and the temperature has been fiiine these last couple mornings. I love waking up to 60 degree weather. The kids made it to school this morning with only one lost shoe and one Midget trying to scratch my leg off when Sam came through the door. boo Midget!! She's been being bratty lately, maybe she needs some remedial training, a 70 pound dog without manners is not so good for me.

I knitted an entire scarf today with homespun brand yarn. It is really fast to work with using the size 19 needles. I have loveingly nicknamed them the baseball bats, heehee.

Terry brought Chinese takeout home for lunch, boy that was awesome. I ate every drop and licked the box! Thank you Terry.

I was so proud of Nick today, he came home from school and asked to use the computer to do homework, rather than asking to use the computer to play games. Good job NICK!! Steffi cleaned her room tonight. Good job STEFF!! Ashley is spending two nights so we will see her after school tomorrow. Ashley goes to the school Steffi went to last year and now she is moving.

Since I finished another knitting project Terry took me to Hobby Lobby for more yarn. I was having a bit of trouble deciding how to make the next project but I think I have it now, whew. I also bought a small wooden decoration to send to my Mom for her birthday.

Marvin my Pleco came out of hiding today. I hadn't seen him in a week and was starting to worry that he had died. But here he is.

By the way, that's Terry's castle in my tank. One of the conditions of my getting another tank was he got to pick the decorations. I can see the front of the castle from my desk chair. Marvin is sucking on the glass so I had a nice photo op. Marvin is about 4 inches long. Jenni and Jessi have a giant pleco, I'm so jealous.

Jessi told me a cute story about Chrissy her dog woofing at Tilly her bird. Chrissy would woof and Tilly would chirp so Chrissy would run around the house and then woof at Tilly again, Tilly would chirp, Chrissy would run around, over and over. I bet that was funny.

Let me go knit, cause I'm on a roll, heehee.

Hugs, goodnight.

Jo where are you? Eileen where are you?? Dad where are you???

My PI homework. I hope it passes.

Whew. I didn't sleep so well last night so I slept on the couch all morning, which was nice, Midget and Shelley kept me nice and crowded, heehee. Steffi seemed fine this morning, no complaints about her tooth hurting.

I started working on another scarf this afternoon but did not like the way it was turning out. Terry took me to Hobby Lobby and I bought size 19 needles, now the scarf is looking right.

Nick brought home a paper from school that says he reads at a 10th grade level which is 2 levels above his grade and Steffi is reading at a 12th grade or college level which is 2-3 levels above her grade. I am proud of them for doing so good.

Steffi cooked dinner tonight and after dinner Terry, Nick and I went to the BX and the gym. We walked 11 laps which is a little less than a mile and a half. Nick and Terry also did situps and pushups after each 2 laps. I also jogged half a lap which Terry walked fast, that's how slow I jog, heehee.

I am talking to my dad on IM right now. Gee I love the internet and my Dad!!

I'm praying for Jo tonight.

August29 176 36

whoo hoo here it is - today is almost over and I knitted like crazy. My hands are tired. I did try to do some other stuff too like use the leaf blower and play basketball with Nick. Oh I watered the grass in the front yard. I can't wait to order some grass seed.

Our lawn is really sad. Even the buffalo grass is frail. In October I want to order some flowers. It is a ground cover named Ice Plant. I had some growing in California and loved it. I want to put it on the side of the house where it's sunny and dry and all the grass is dead. I've already figured out how to rearrange the hoses so they can get watered. Plus when it fills in it'll look nice for when we sell the house.

Steffi had an orthodontics appointment with Dr. Foster to tighten her braces. Something is happening with the tooth they put the chain on, the chain is supposed to be slowly pulling an impacted tooth into place. Darn my eyes, I cannot see what is happening. Anyway Steffi's mouth hurts and she's not enjoying the evening. She did eat some soup and she's taking a bath now.

Terry did homework with Nick tonight so I got a break. Jessi picked up her bird yesterday but I did not find out until today when I went in to feed the birds. Jessica hasn't said anything so I guess everything is ok. She came while Terry and I were at Hobby Lobby and didn't stay long.

Tonight Terry and I watched the movie
Life Without Dick. It was funny. Terry didn't think he'd like it and ended up liking it alot. There is just so much winding and twisting and slippery jokes and slap your forehead humor that you end up laughing. The funniest part to me was Harry Connick Jr saying, I don't sing anymore, I gave it up 2 years ago. I mean he is such a great singer, it was just funny.

I'm gone....

August28 177

Yeah today is almost over. I just wanted to knit but I ran out of yarn so I had to do chores instead, boo. It was nice to fold the laundry and get some things picked up. I actually watched some TV and took a long nap, plus watered the grass and did some computer cleanup.

Terry came home from lunch with his cold and his complaints. I do feel sorry for him. I had the cold for 2 weeks and did lots of whining myself. I made him drink lemon juice and water. He will get some more lemon juice tomorrow too. He needs all the vitamin C he can get since he hardly ever eats fruit.

Here is a picture of the front garden at my Auntie Calamity's new house. They just moved in this summer, she just finished the gravel path today. I love to read her emails detailing all the work she's done everyday. WHEW makes me tired.

This afternoon Terry took all the spare change and had it turned into cash and then took me to Hobby Lobby and Michael's where I picked up enough yarn to finish two projects and start another. Yippee!!

Steffi's friend Ashley is moving soon so Steffi is having a get together this weekend. I hope it's a lot of fun. Nick wanted to stay up late tonight and watch TV with me. Terry went to bed early and that's where I should be.

Goodnight

August27 176

OMG, Jessica said it rained in Bossier City yesterday. A river runs between Bossier City and Shreveport. We only live a couple miles away from each other as the crow flies. But I mean it does not rain here on my planet!! When I lived in California we had a 7 year drought, and now there's no rain here. I should move to Seattle, I need some RAIN!!!!

Oh Jessi, I still have the poison ivy from Nate and your trip to Pennsylvania. Really he can have it back, really. Are you picking up your bird soon? She's doing good in her small cage.

These are pictures of Sam and Steffi from yesterday. They are talking on the phone to Ashley.

Terry and I did the grocery shopping today, only for 4 days worth of food. Terry has a cold and is not feeling well. Gee is this the cold I had for 2 weeks that he didn't notice? The cold where I sniffled and whined and still had to cook meals and do laundry, pay bills, clean the fridge, get everyone out the door on time, take care of the critters, make sure the grass was mowed, make beds, clean house, pick up after people....I'm still whiny and now he's the 'bring me a pillow, bring me alka seltzer' kind of sick. heehee.

I want some new fish.

Terry thinks it's a bad idea since we're moving someday but until I get notice I want to get some fish. Jenni had cichlids. Her's are orange and huge. I think maybe some small electric yellow ones will be fine. I have to wait til October. Steffi's birthday is in September and all spare change will go towards that.

Tonight Terry and I watched Where the Truth Lies

Plot Summary :
A female journalist tries to uncover the truth behind the breakup, years earlier, of a celebrated comedy team after the duo found a girl dead in their hotel room. Though both had airtight alibis and neither was accused, the incident put an end to their act.

Kevin Bacon starred in it, so of course I loved it, but it was not a kid's movie so I'm glad the kids didn't want to watch it.

I'm real excited my dad joined blogger.com. Here's his link.

I need to go finish the laundry, boo.

Good night and sweet dreams.

August26 177

Happy Saturday, it was cloudy and cool today. I got a snail mail from my dad with newspaper clippings of Sharon and him eating corn at the corn festival. Too bad the paper got her name wrong, either that or Sharon has a twin named Sheila. heehee. I finished a scarf today, fringe and all and started another. I'm making a matching scarf for Terry's brother.

Terry took the kids fencing this morning and didn't tell me goodbye so he was in trouble. This afternoon Steffi's friend Sam came over and we went to the libary. I enjoyed sitting in the glass room reading magazines. We should go more often. We ended up eating dinner at Taco Bell since it was too late to cook dinner.

I took a quick nap on the couch but between Terry and the dogs waking me up I didn't really sleep. The last time Terry woke me up he said let's go on a walk, so we headed out on a walk. It was already dark outside and I had to hold onto his hand tight, but I love walking with him. We walked under the highway and over to the path by the river and then walked home. We tried to stay in step and laughed.

Terry and I watched the movie Inside Man.

This is a comment made by someone about the movie and it really gives a good outline. We did enjoy this movie.

Inside Man - My Quick Take

Inside Man is intelligent, intriguing, and extremely entertaining. Spike Lee's latest effort is an amazing heist thriller that will keep your attention for the whole film. It's funny, it's clever, and it's unpredictable. Lee's stylish direction perfectly fits Gewirtz' dazzling screen writing debut.

The cast is led by Lee's perfect direction, as Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster both give top notch performances. Washington gives an unclichéd treatment to his hostage negotiator role, as he's simply as cool as ever. With Foster, we're never certain of her exact occupation, more than ever adding to the enigma of her character and performance.

Clive Owen is slick and darkly intelligent as the film's mastermind. His every move is smooth, clever, and down right innovative to the genre. Christopher Plummer and William Dafoe give hearty supporting performances as well and Chiwetel Ejiofor is simply a treat to watch as Washington's partner.

With technical aspects, the film's editing style is creative and its cinematography is surprisingly dazzling with its execution. Both keep you in the dark atmosphere of the robbery and investigation at hand. The music is always fitting, as it always perfectly sets the tone of each scene. In addition, with Spike Lee's style comes messages he always seems to like slipping into his films. Two examples here are quick takes on racism and violence in video games.

Inside Man is guaranteed to entertain. It's a perfect film with all questions answered and no plot holes found by its end. Gewirtz' heist screenplay is perfectly and beautifully brought to the screen. It's a career high for both Washington and Lee. Inside Man is a must see and is the one of the best films of the year thus far.

My Rating: 10/10

Nick and Steffi being sweet brother and sister.

My 4 parakeets and Jessica's in the aviary.

Terry woke me up early to get the kids off to school. Nick looked so fantastic in his new uniform. I finally woke Steffi up at 6:45, usually I get the time wrong. Terry was off work today but he woke up to give Steffi a ride to school.

I knitted like mad today but took a break for a nap and Terry and I loafed in bed talking for an hour, just like old times. That was nice, I enjoyed it. Below is a song that really tells how I feel now.

For some reason today I had an upset stomach but some Tums seemed to fix me up.

The kids came home from school in good moods but Nick crashed and fell asleep on the chair. He has a temperature. I guess he picked up my summer cold.

Tonight after dinner Steffi, Terry and I went to PetSmart to look at fish. I am interested in getting a mating pair of Cichlids. We can't really get anything fancy cause when we move we won't be able to keep them, but I am bored with the Mollies that I have and want something new. The mollies were bought to cycle the big tank and it surely has cycled.

We then went to the Boardwalk and rode the street car. I was surprised we didn't see Jessica and Nate there. Jessica didn't pick up her bird today, she said maybe on Monday.

We watched the movie RV. It was funny and dumb. We need an RV!! Click the link to learn more about the movie.

I Wanna Know What Love Is by Foreigner video

I gotta take a little time
A little time to think things over
I better read between the lines
In case I need it when Im older

Now this mountain I must climb
Feels like a world upon my shoulders
Through the clouds I see love shine
It keeps me warm as life grows colder

In my life there's been heartache and pain
I don't know if I can face it again
Can't stop now, I've traveled so far
To change this lonely life

I wanna know what love is
I want you to show me
I wanna feel what love is
I know you can show me

I'm gonna take a little time
A little time to look around me
I've got nowhere left to hide
It looks like love has finally found me

In my life there's been heartache and pain
I don't know if I can face it again
I can't stop now, I've traveled so far
To change this lonely life

I wanna know what love is
I want you to show me
I wanna feel what love is
I know you can show me

I wanna know what love is
I want you to show me
And I wanna feel, I want to feel what love is
And I know, I know you can show me

Let's talk about love
I wanna know what love is, the love that you feel inside
I want you to show me, and I'm feeling so much love
I wanna feel what love is, no, you just cannot hide
I know you can show me, yeah

I wanna know what love is, let's talk about love
I want you to show me, I wanna feel it too
I wanna feel what love is, I want to feel it too
And I know and I know, I know you can show me
Show me love is real, yeah
I wanna know what love is...

Yippee, Steffi found the camera!! Expect to see more pictures and less blah blah blah. It must need new batteries, the images aren't downloading off the camera. BOO.

I finished another scarf today and added fringe to two scarves that I had finished earlier. I started another scarf tonight while Terry and Nick watched Poseidon. I didn't really watch the movie cause I took a quickie nap on the couch. Steffi was in her room studying. I hope she throws herself into getting a scholarship.

This morning when Nick woke up he could not find any clothes to wear to school. This was very frustrating since we just bought him new uniforms. But Nick is very tall and everything is too short. In fact the first thing he said to me when he woke up is my shirt is too short. This afternoon we took him to the Uniform Store and bought him adult sized uniforms. Nick must be the tallest kid in 8th grade. He's been told twice this year he looks 16 years old, but he's only 13.

Hey it almost rained today!! At least it smelled kind of green and wet outside. I still watered the front yard for an hour. We need a real hard long rain. At least it was cooler today.

This is the back yard with the pool out of the way and the trampoline in the way, notice the rain?

Here is a picture of the kids from the first day of school.

Steffi came home from school sick today. She took a nap, ate some lunch and seemed to be ok all afternoon. She caught Jessica's bird for her and put her in the little cage Jessi bought. Jessica is supposed to pick her bird up tomorrow.

I'm off to bed. Goodnight!! I made 15 bean soup for dinner. I can still smell it and it's making me hungry. I hope tomorrow comes quick so I can eat again. Please God, let Steffi have a good day tomorrow. Eileen I do have something similar to a trench coat you can borrow when you come to visit. And Dad it was good to talk with you online today. Have a good walk. Jessica, you were very sweet to call Steffi last night. You are a wonderful big sis! See you tomorrow.

gee I slept all day but I managed to do a bit of knitting after the kids and Terry left for school. Steffi ended up coming home and asking for a ride to school for herself and 3 friends. Terry ended up coming home too, he forgot to shave. ooops.

I just wanted to sleep today and Terry let me sleep through lunch, yeah.

The kids came home from school after both having bad days. Someone slashed Nick's bike tire and he had to push his bike home 2 miles. Alex broke up with Steffi and I don't know what to say to make it better. It will get better honey, I promise.

Terry cooked chili/cornbread for dinner and then he Steffi and I watched TV until time to go to the gym. Steffi and Nick decided not to go and when we came home Nick was reading a library book and Steffi was using the computer. Terry and I walked 10 laps at the gym a mile and quarter. It was very hot and humid inside the gym, boo. I'm off to bath and bed, goodnight.

Was good to talk to you today Dad, sorry I missed you online Sierra. This video is for Jessica and Nate.

August22 176 37

Hello world, I thought today was good but now I'm not so sure. Last night during my bath Penny tangled herself up in a skein of yarn. Then she acted all innocent. I wish I had seen her or knew where the camera is hiding. I must have done too much at the gym last night cause I didn't want to wake up this morning. Terry got the kids off to school.

When I did wake up at 10 I turned on the water sprinkler for the front yard. I think I am happy with the way the sprinklers are set up now. Hopefully I can get the grass to come back.

Terry came home for lunch with a neat picture he had done. He is giving it to Nick, it has an metallic eagle over the Grand Canyon, looks cool. That reminds me, my aunt drew a picture of how to get Terry to go on walks. As soon as I find the picture I will post it, cause it's funny.

When Nick came home from school we finished cleaning his room, he just needs to clean under the bed. He was not too thrilled I cleaned his room, but I told him to do it last week so he had plenty of chances. Tomorrow I would like to do the walk in closet in the hallway. I had fun going over Nick's day at school with him. He didn't have any homework but we found things to talk about.

Steffi came home and said they had a new bus!! YEAH. But this morning the bus didn't show up so they had to catch a ride to school with one of the moms. Steffi caught Midget and Penny when they broke out of the house today. YEAH Steffi.

Tonight I made red beans and rice for dinner, yummy. Terry, Steffi and I watched the movie
Failure to Launch. Click the link to find out more.

Plot Outline:
A thirtysomething slacker suspects his parents of setting him up with his dream girl so he'll finally vacate their home.

It was cute and total chick flick but Terry enjoyed it, and he said he wouldn't, so there. I finished Terry's scarf tonight, just need to add fringe.

anyways I'm off to bed. I hope Steffi has a better day tomorrow and sweeter dreams tonight.

The first step towards the solution of any problem is optimism. ~~John Baines

I have so many songs going through my head. Edith Bunker is yelling about those being the days and I'm on the road to Sham ba la, ooo ooo ooo oooo oooo ooo.....

Today was a good day. Terry woke me early to see the kids off to school. I was able to add more rows to Nick's scarf and used up a whole skein of yarn on Terry's scarf. I am really happy with the way his scarf is coming together. I took a nap before lunch and Terry woke me up when he came home for lunch.

This afternoon I noticed someone had picked up the old hammock frame I offered on the freecycle site. I hope they can use it. It is nice to recycle stuff instead of throwing it out, so thanks to Sierra for pointing the site out.

http://www.freecycle.org/

I wish I could send Eileen some bananas. Maybe I will make some banana bread tomorrow and smoosh it through the cable......

After school Nick and I did homework and then went outside to play basketball and to turn on the water sprinklers in the back yard. I made beef stew and biscuits for dinner and while it was cooking we finished the puzzle. There is a piece missing --boo.

Then it was off to the BX to buy Steffi stuff for school and Nick new shirts. He is wearing extra large shirts. He is so tall and the shirts are short. We headed over to the gym, hoping it would rain, but just got a little lightning. Terry and I walked 9 laps on the indoor track, and Nick and Steffi played racquetball. And now we are ready for bed.

Goodnight, love you

Dad I sign on the computer about 6:30am. ILY

August20 177

Good morning, first of all, I couldn't access my blog to update it, that is why it is late. Hopefully blogger will get it's upgrading in order, I am here now, JOY.

Here is all about our yesterday.

Wow today was such a good day and so busy! Terry got busy in the morning and bought gas for the lawn mower. Nick mowed the whole yard and it looks wonderful out there without the hay and without the pool. Terry did the weedeating and I had to be bossy and tell them to move the trampoline out of Midget's area. I could see Midget wrapping her tether around it as not being a good thing. Steffi and I did a mountain of laundry.

After Nick finished mowing I had him turn on both backyard water sprinkler and he, Terry and I played basketball. It felt good to get wet since it was so hot. Nick won the game of HORSE, you make 5 baskets and spell out the word horse. I was thrilled to make 3 baskets or HOR and Terry made 4 baskets for HORS

Terry took me to get more yarn, but Hobby Lobby was closed so we went to Michael's. They had a rainbow of yarn there and Terry picked out a color for his scarf, it is burgandy and stitching up so nice I am surprised.

I made tacos for dinner and after dinner we started a 500 piece puzzle of a glow in the dark dragon. We will finish it tonight. Looking forward to doing some knitting now that I got my computer fix.

Good day!!

August19 177

First of all, thanks to my dad for noticing my blog had more than one entry yesterday. The entry was repeated 5 times, did y'all here what I said? My Dad called twice and we got it all straightened out, plus he told me I wasn't logged on the AIM chat. Thanks Dad. I love that we can talk so much online. It's like we're neighbors.

Today the kids went fencing. Jessica let me know they are washing Nate's car. Terry took down the pool and I made the grocery list and cleaned the fridge. We took Steffi to lunch at the golf course but they said lunch closed at 2 and it was already 2:30 so we went to lunch at the BX. Then we went to the commissary and did very well at not picking up snacks and junk food. It was very hot though and I was feeling faint by the time we checked out, at home I took a nap. It was nice and cool under the sheets. It was 104 degrees outside.

Tonight we moved all the pool leftovers out to the curb, either the stuff will get picked up by recyclers tomorrow or trash man Monday. Goodbye pool, thanks for the fun summer. I want to go knit, so goodnight.

This is a video Steffi made and dedicated to me. This is one TV couple I wanted to see become a couple. I hope they go the distance. Thanks Steffi, you are so sweet!

August18

whew did it, finished the checkbook. Never doing that again, heehee.

Well the head cold is still annoying me, I took some alka seltzer cold medicine today. At least I got to breathe for a few hours. And took a nice nap on the couch too.

I worked on Nick's scarf today and I'm almost finished. Terry really liked it and he wants one using that style of yarn which is called homespun and worked 2 threads over one needle. I need more yarn bad. When Nick got home from school I put his project away and worked on the scarfs for Jenni's 3 girls. I finished another one for the little girls so I have 2 scarfs done and one to go. I call them mini me scarfs since they match Jessica's scarf and Jenni's little girls are so girly, they will look cute matching Jessica.

Tonight as a break from the homespun yarn I worked with the chenille cord. It's really pretty and soft but does not stitch up as nice, so mostly I knit like mad and then unravel fast.

Anyway I'm off to bed, if I were a camera where would I hide?

hugs goodnight

August17

Another hot day, woohoo, and not a drop of rain last night. The clouds sure were pretty though.

I ripped up the couch after the kids left for school, didn't find the camera but found lots of other stuff, no change, heehee. I spent a long time knitting after cleaning that up.

After Nick got home from school I felt kinda overheated and took a nap. I woke up feeling worse. Good thing it was Terry's night to do homework with Nick. Terry took me for a ride to his shop and we saw Jessica and Nate pull up in his car. They had Chrissy, Jessi's dog with them and Chrissy had something green in her teeth, ew. They came by the house later. Jessi wants a truck but how can they afford it? Nate is smart tater, trust me.

Terry, Steffi and I watched the movie Glory Road tonight. The movie was ok, but I had to watch it and not knit, boo. I hope Dawnni lets me know how I can get my mitts on some homespun yarn from Oz.I'm not a huge basketball fan but here's the plot outline for the movie.

40 years ago, Don Haskins went on the recruiting trail to find the best talent in the land, black or white. 7 blacks and 5 whites made up the legendary 1965-66 Texas Western Miners. They were mocked and ridiculed for their showboating and flaunting of black players on the court. Yet, in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds, Haskins and his Miners came together as a team united to reach the National Championship game against powerhouse Kentucky.

We have not heard from Jo and pray she is ok following her surgery. Anita did email today and she sounds thrilled to be in paradise.

Steffi loves French class, Daddy calls her teacher's pet. heehee.

Hey Dad, sorry I keep missing you on IM's. I love you.

hugs, goodnight.

August16

I woke up this morning, sick sick sick, peee u! After the kids went to school I knitted a little then fell asleep in Steffi's bed and slept til noon when Terry came home for lunch. Ahhh life is good, sleep all day, heehee.

I did have a nice chat with Sierra and gave Nick a test. It's fun going over homework with him. I hope he is learning.

It was hot today. 106 degrees. That is not funny, that is cruel. I didn't walk this morning, it was already too hot after the kids went to school.

Tonight Terry and I hit the gym and walked a mile. He also did sit-ups and push-ups. Not me, nope.

Tonight we watched Date Movie with the kids, it was funny and stupid but so much fun to yell out the name of the movies/people/places and things being paradied. Sadly we knew a lot of the them, we must watch too many movies. Of course I knew the line by heart when he asks 'and what happens when the prince rescues her' and she says 'she rescues him right back.' I love the movie Pretty Woman.

Still no word from Jo. I hope her surgery went ok. I'm also thinking about Anita tonight and her vacation, hope it's going good. And thanks to Sierra for the IM today.

Good night all.

August15 176 35

Wow today went by really fast. Terry was gone again when Steffi woke me up at 6:30. The kids got off to school ok and Midget and I took off for a walk. I really like our walks though today Midget got brave and chased the cat to the storm drain, that surprised me. She's been terrified of storm drains since the day she pulled me into one on my bike.

I finished Steffi's scarf today and started on Terry's but found I was using too small of knitting needles. I'm getting a lot of practice ripping out stitches.

It was really hot today, poor Terry. At least the work is finished and he can work indoors again.

I made lasagna for dinner and bread. Nick and I did homework after dinner. He had an amazing worksheet from art, there were nine squares with a squiggly line in each square and the student was supposed to finish and create something. Nick is so clever and so much detail. He in intricate. Steffi said she did all her homework at school. Jessica, I have a letter for you that you need to pick up soon.

Tonight after we went to PetSmart to pick up pet food, we watched the dvd An Unfinished Life. It was really good, I really enjoyed it. It is hard to imagine Robert Redford without blue eyes but he was still HOT! Morgan Freeman was cool too. Here's a link to an image.

Plot Outline: A down on her luck woman, desperate to provide care for her daughter, moves in with her father in-law from whom she is estranged. Through time, they learn to forgive each other and heal old wounds.

I'm tired and off to bed. No news about Jo. Goodnight Dad, sorry I missed you all day.

August14 176 36

Yeah, today was a good day. I don't know when Terry left for work, I woke up at 6:30 and he was gone. Poor baby having to work so hard. Steffi was on the ball this morning and got us all situated and out the door. She's much more of a morning person than me, lol.

After the kids left for school Midget knew it was time for our walk and could hardly contain herself. We did happen upon the cat again and this time I was unprepared and ended up sailing like a kite behind Midget as she took chase. Even the abuser collar didn't slow her down. Usually with this collar I only need a light tap to get her to focus. While I was putting the collar on Midget I happened to lean down and saw a blue strap under the table and my heart leapt. I thought it can't be, it's the knitting bag. I reached over and moved some folded laundry and like and AHA moment I found the knitting bag. I was happy!!

I did finish knitting one scarf today and started on a hat. Terry mentioned my work is looking really good. That didn't hurt my feelings. I'm really into working 2 threads at a time. I needed more yarn so Terry took me to Hobby Lobby tonight after he drug himself home from work. It's mighty hot on the flightline. It's 20 degrees hotter on the flightline than it was here and it was 101 here. I'm glad I'm not working out there.

Dad and Sharon did get their picture in the paper but you have to pay to read the newspaper online.-boo. I was able to read that Kevin Bacon was at the corn festival!

Everyone is in bed so I guess I better go too.

Good morning!!

I'm thinking about Jo today, I hope her surgery goes ok tomorrow.

I lost the camera and now I've lost the knitting bag with Terry's scarf so I'm daydreaming about yarn. Here's some real homespun yarn, quite beautiful from OZ, the land down under. Wish I was there.

Steffi has a date for homecoming dance with Alex, oh boy I'm excited. Nick had a good time with David this weekend. I was glad when he came home. We didn't have family night tonight, Terry was too tired -boo. Dad finally caught me on the computer today and we had a nice chat. He was tired from walking in a parade. He thinks they'll have their picture in the paper, cool.

I need to finish the laundry -boohoo.

Goodnight.

Good morning, another lazy Saturday. Terry had to work. Nick went to David's house. Steffi made bbq honey chicken wings for lunch and I knitted.

We are off to Jenni's house. Jessica is having a makeup party, all girls night. I think no makeup for me since my eye is still yucky but facials sound like fun.

WHERE IS THE CAMERA??? Jessica took the picture above with her camera phone, what fun we had. I felt totally spoiled and special. Thanks Jessica and Jenni for the facials and dinner. I hope we do that again soon.

Goodnight. I'm drinking lots of lemon juice hoping to shake this cold, I do feel better tonight.

Meet Steffi's baby Lurge. I just love to squish his tummy and make him squeak. heehee. So while walking Midget I notice a huge gray cat in a tree about 10 feet away from us and since Midget has not noticed the cat yet I think to myself that we'll get through this moment. We are now 5 feet from the tree and Midget has still not noticed the cat, the possible chew toy, the reason Mom's arms get pulled regularly out of their sockets. 4 3 2 feet, we are one foot from the tree with the cat in it. I am confident we'll be able to walk past without incident. The cat will stay safe in the tree, Midget will not have to tear after it, possibly pulling the leash from my hands or worse my arms from my body. A 70 pound dog who loves to chase fuzzy things is not a situation you want to meet every day especially near a 4 lane highway. BUT WAIT, we are one foot from the cat who is now screaming down the tree and running right in front of Midget's nose. I have one second to think "ut oh" and "brace yourself." Midget takes one second to think KILL THE FUZZY! It all happened so fast, the brace, the ears perk up, the alligator sized jaw opens and prepares to inhale, and wisely the cat runs down a nearby storm drain. Midget says Drain? fergetaboutit and we walk along as if nothing happened. Nothing but my heart racing.

I spent the rest of the afternoon on the couch. It's very hot outside. We did try to find a workbook Steffi needs for school. I ended up paying $15 for a $6 dollar book by going to Amazon.com. Thank you 3 day air delivery. Tonight I saw her studiously sitting at her desk doing Geometry. She loves school and looks so good studying!! The girls had to walk home from school today cause the bus is too crowded. It is too hot to walk 4 miles. Luckily they only had to walk 2 miles and got a ride the rest of the way.

The cable internet connection is really slow. They said to unplug it and plug it back in. I'll try that later, it's not exactly in a convenient place.

Terry bought me some more yarn today to knit him and Jessi a scarf. I am knitting one for Steffi right now. I wonder if Nick would use a scarf.

Anyone else want a scarf? I love to knit. I'm a knitwit. heehee.

I had soup for dinner and now I'm off to knit and sneeze. Has anyone seen the camera? I seem to have lost it again.

hugs, Goodnight

It's the first day of school and Jessica's 19th birthday!! We went over to Jenni's house for lunch to give Jessi some cupcakes, cards and roses. I wanted to take her picture but forgot the camera. boo. These pictures are a couple days old.

I finished the scarf today, it's huge and heavy, cause I used 4 skeins of thick yarn. It should be worn on a very cold planet, not the planet Louisiana. Terry wants a scarf too, he needs to pick his yarn.

No word yet on Virginia, we are keeping our hopes up though that they will call soon.

Tonight we bought school supplies. Steffi was pretty happy with all her classes and didn't get sick. Nick did ride his bike and didn't complain about the heat.

I'm off to sleep. Hugs y'all.

Midget was barking at my knitting bag. I guess since I wasn't knitting she didn't like the bag just sitting there like it was abandoned. Midget is so cool and funny. She must always be near me. If I move from one chair to another even if it's in the same room, she will get up and move so she's right next to me. If I leave the room and close the door she will lay by the door with her nose or paws underneath the door and then act surprised and happy to see me when I open the door. It's very funny. Even Terry says "Midget has to be with you."

Tomorrow the kids start school. Steffi has been feeling sick again today. There is so much stress, I wish things would calm down for her. We couldn't make her a doctor appointment today. I hope she makes it through her first day of school tomorrow.

Nick and Terry are off riding bikes to Nick's school. Nick wants to ride his bike instead of taking the bus. I don't blame him, I don't like the bus either. I hope Nick does decide to ride, it'll be good for him.

Jessica mentioned having a girl's night in this weekend. Sounds like fun.

It is late and I'm tired and excited for school to start. It will seem very quiet tomorrow. Here's a list of chores we need to do around the house.

take pool down this weekend
Nick's wall cover hole by doorknob
Nick's bathroom sink, fix drain
Steffi's ceiling patch water hole
paint Steffi's walls

spackle fuse box together and paint closet
our bedroom walls finish
our bathroom wallpaper glue or remove and paint
carpets 4 bedrooms, living room, hallway

And goodnight to all. And happy early birthday to Jessica. 19 years old YEAH!!

Floyd Landis Speaks Out on 'Good Morning America'

Disgraced Tour de France Champ Says He's Never Used Performance-Enhancing Drugs

"I have never taken any banned substance, including testosterone," Landis said in a previous statement. "I was the strongest man at the Tour de France, and that is why I am the champion. I will fight these charges with the same determination and intensity that I bring to my training and racing. It is now my goal to clear my name and restore what I worked so hard to achieve."

My head swirls. Terry woke me at 7:30 before he went to work and while the kids slept I took Midget for a walk. She was not very well behaved this morning, I think my shoulder separated from my body. We only walked about a mile, it wasn't too hot, but it was humid.
Terry made a surprise visit home around 9:30 and woke up Steffi, Nick was already awake and watching TV with me. Terry mentioned something about moving to Virginia possibly very soon. I am holding my breath. This would be a good thing for our family.
Lasagna for dinner, anyone want some?
Steffi went on a date to the boardwalk with Jessica and then is spending the night with Casey. Terry and I bought the book she needs for school. We'll see her tomorrow.
Terry is doing homework, Nick is playing on the computer and I'm ready for bed, all washed and powdered.
Goodnight.
PS sorry no pictures yet. I really do have some.

uh oh the weight is creeping back on, I need to exercise but I have so much stress I can't think straight. I'm gonna walk tomorrow morning, I don't care about any excuse. As soon as Terry's heading out the door for work I'm walking.

Jessica kept calling all weekend about her birthday *presents* so I gave them to her this afternoon. I was disappointed cause I wanted to give them to her Wednesday on her birthday. We also went to Baskin Robbins for ice cream and went on a short drive. I learned today that Jessi's favorite color is pink and that she hasn't liked blue for a long time. Go figure.

Terry wanted to watch the movie The Libertine. I didn't get into it and happily took up my knitting instead. I'm on the third skein of yarn. The scarf is more than 3 feet long, I'm really excited cause I haven't knitted in a long time.

Tomorrow I'll have some pictures. Tonight I'm going to bed.

Goodnight hugs

PARIS (AP) -- Floyd Landis was fired by his team and the Tour de France no longer considered him its champion Saturday after his second doping sample tested positive for higher-than-allowable levels of testosterone.

The samples contained synthetic testosterone, indicating that it came from an outside source.

Floyd Landis Fails Second

I won’t believe Floyd is guilty of these accusations until Floyd says he did indeed use the products he is accused of being positive for. ~Bob Roll~

Guess that is that.

This afternoon we took Stef and Nick to Watertown. It was just so hot and I needed out of the house. We had a great time. I love the tidal pool and the water slides. A very nice woman gave me her float in the tidal pool. We gave the float to someone else later. The concrete was HOT! But the afternoon was fun. Jessi and Nate stopped by the house while we were out and we met the new neighbor Cody after we got home. Cody is busy fixing up the house, guess it needed more work than he expected.

Nick has gone to spend the night with a friend. I don't know what's for dinner, I'm too tired.

We watched the movie, The Matador. NO COMMENT.

Goodnight

August4 176 37

I didn't sleep very well last night and woke up super early to see Terry off to work, and then Steffi off to school orientation. Then since Nick was still asleep I went back to bed and slept hard with no dreams. Wonderful. Terry woke me at noon and Steffi made chicken wings for me, Nick and herself. Terry had to go to a luncheon.
I knitted on the scarf all afternoon and finished a skein of yarn, WOW. I will take a picture soon. Midget got real jealous of it and tried to rip it up while I was outside sitting with Steffi waiting for her ride to school. Midget does not like me to leave her alone.
Terry took me to Hobby Lobby after he got home from work and I found 6 skeins that match the scarf so I scooped them up. I know it's way too many but I can make a hat or a hotpad with the extra, right.
Jessica and Nate stopped by for a few minutes. I didn't give her the birthday presents yet, she'll have to wait til her birthday.
I made beans and weinies for dinner and watered the willow. Then we played UNO. Nick was the big winner tonight. He won 3 times and had the lowest score. Dad came in last place with the highest score.
I am exhausted and outta here.

The fact is, that to do anything in the world worth doing, we must not stand back shivering and thinking of the cold and danger, but jump in and scramble through as well as we can.

August2 176 37

I had the worst dream about a tornado last night. I was in the basement of my Gramma's house with 8 people I didn't know. This was the first time ever in a dream that the tornado actually hit and destroyed the house, usually I dream about 3 little tornados in the distance and one huge one up close that doesn't do any damage. The newspaper said that all of us died. I'm terribly frightened.

This afternoon I quickly cleaned the turtle tank and filter. The turtles look good, though the tank stinks. Maybe I need 2 filters since there are 2 turtles?

Steffi went to Allison's house to spend the night. She called home while I was napping and told Nick to tell me she loved me. I love my kids. They are precious.

Terry, Nick and I watched the dvd Benchwarmer's tonight. Not my type of show, but at least it had no bare chested women.

I'm going to bed early. Good night Steffi, Nick, and Terry and goodnight to Eileen in the wonderful world of OZ. More pictures soon.
hugs

August1 175 37

Good morning, I am up early to see Terry off to work. He looked sharp in his new uniform.

And then I slept all day cause I was tired. I'm still tired now so I'm calling it an early night. The kids are are excited school is starting soon. Steffi mowed grass today and cleaned up the bird cage. We went to Bass Pro tonight and looked at camping gear. I can't imagine them going camping next spring break when it'll be cold out. Dinner was I-Hop tonight, a treat, we haven't been there in a long time.

Tomorrow would be a good day to clean the turtle tank and water grass. Still had temps in the 100's today, boo.

I think I know what to do for Jessica's birthday. Steffi is busy planning her skating party.

hugs, goodnight
